EFFCO's parent company is the Southern African Enterprise Development Fund (SAEDF), an initiative of the former South African President Nelson Mandela and former United State President William Jefferson Clinton for the specific purpose of providing funding to stimulate the creation and expansion of small and medium indigenous businesses throughout Southern Africa. The promotion of enterprise development is expected to stimulate social development and have economic impact in the region.
The Honourable Andrew Young, former Congressman, Mayor, United Nations Ambassador and Civil rights leader, was appointed as Chairman of SAEDF by President Clinton.
